Newcastle lo-fi rock band lots of hands share new single ‘backseat 30’ ahead of new album into a pretty room. The third preview of their forthcoming record, ‘backseat 30’ is contemplative, harbouring a small-town fear of regret. Despite the sense of wanting to break out into something more in opening lyrics ‘I don’t wanna waste my life up/Hitting the backseat 30/Talking with the dogs and birdies/Getting my nails all dirty’, the band’s DIY flair carries a somber comfort. Emulating the experimental style of Alex G with glitchy, distorted vocals combined with more organic folk textures through measured kicks and sharp guitar plucks, lots of hands are outgrowing rural roots in favour of a robust, exploratory sound on ‘backseat 30’. -Kayla Sandiford
